Valentine's Day 2010
You know, here's the thing. I actually like valentine's day. I don't have one but I still like the idea of it. Driving around the city all day, I see couples exchanging whispers laughing at their inside jokes, gay men holding hands as they cross the street, suited men with bouquets in their arms - its just all beautiful to me. But here's what I don't understand. If people don't like it, why not?
Its a fabricated day to take our money.
Oh. Really. I can tell you this, there must be a tear in the fabric of the universe this day is keeping together because, yes, a lot of money is being spent. But I can also tell you that its not just the marketing and commercials because regardless of how many times I hear its "talk like a pirate day", the economy just doesn't change that much for the week of september 19th. So people are buying into valentines because they want to.
I don't wanna feel like I have to buy my g/f something.
Who says you should? Valentines. But why don't you? If a dozen stupid mother fucking roses makes your s.o. mother fucking happy, than buy it for her for god's sake. Oooh, because you don't want to. Well, I don't think vday is for you, its for your significant other. Hey, you could be cheaper and write her a sincere letter, cost you .39 but I guarantee that you won't do it because its too much work. Stop being selfish man.
I don't believe in it.
You don't have to believe in anything. I don't believe in ghost but I still get scared. I don't believe in spoiled kids but I still buy my fave girl a gift. You don't have to believe in valentines. You can just enjoy it.
