The politics of dating aka women are crazy

Spock

Apparently calling the girl on the same day for a first date is considered rude by several women I know. Of course 12 people is not enough of a sample size nor is 3 of 5 girls statistically accurate but since my world is small and intimate, it'll do for now. Jenny, jessica and aline say:

. no I wouldn't go out with you, its inconsiderate
. we don't want to be your plan b
. you should take some time into planning a nice date
. I'm not just waiting around all day for you to call.
. I asked my other friends and they all agree with me

Martin, spock and I say:

. that makes absolutely no sense
. that is so illogical
. there's a lot of assumptions going on

Plans fall through, we just want to be with you. So we call. Is that so wrong? But john belushi says noOooo, they says it better to wait a week to initiate first contact and give them some lead time. What? What are you, 16 years old to get permission from your mom, go to forever 21 to find an outfit and text message all your friends to see what they think? This is not the prom where you need to go get your hair done and find a matching dress for a boutonniere. We're just getting together to get to know each other.

Of course I understand the chances are considerably slim to ask a girl out day of since she may already have plans. But it just surprised me that these girls felt so strongly about the issue. However, weather we think it makes sense or not, jessica says, "well, thats what girls are thinking and thats who you want to go out with so..."

note: apparently you have to call 3 days after the first date. What?!!! I don't even know I like you that much that I gotta "check in". No wonder guys are afraid of commitment. Maybe we just want to take it slow...
