GR softball update

Giant Robot Softball 2008

Halfway through the softball season and the giant robot team is now 5 and 1 after a night filled with sick players and low energy. Lot of people think its just a bunch of wacky friends from companies getting together but the league is ran through the los angeles parks and recreation dept and teams are serious. The funky bunches end up dropping out fast but we've been around for 7 years now. Giant Robot had just beaten the first place team in a low scoring game of 10 to 4 where we slowly grinded out each inning with a strike out or a demoralizing double play from our shortstop to second to first. It was a difficult and anxious win but hard fought. Most of us love our team and the game and will work on our skills during the week. Some go to the batting cages every tuesday, some to the gym, others watch their favorite baseball player on youtube hoping to emulate skills while some watch opposing teams on our by week trying to get a good scouting report. Because I'm not the biggest, the fastest or the strongest, I have to try extra hard to help out the players. So I make snacks. Sometimes cookies, sometimes cupcakes. Last night I made rice krispy treats. Everyone was happy. Because we won.

Brian (left) is our super sub. Whenever someone calls out sick, he's usually the first person we call. He plays any position and gets hits like crazy. Chi (right) loves to shoot guns.

Marc (right) likes being on the team because he's the tallest one and we make him feel like a white missionary helping us save ourselves from the devil. Britney is his nice "friend".

Sada is our new short stop. He plays great in one of the most important positions. But I like him because his girlfriend notices my haircuts. Thats very important in determining where you hit in the line up.

The guy stretching in the above picture is known only as the stranger.
